Bridging Worlds: Reflections from San Francisco

Building bridges between LatAm and US

A Week in San Francisco

Last month, I participated in the second edition of Puentes in San Francisco. It's a program connecting LatAm tech talent with global opportunities. I spent an evening with professionals that were full of curiosity, wonder, and hope for their future.

I won’t go into detail about what Puentes is all about, but if you’d like to learn more, you can watch the conversation between Sebastián Martínez, Thaloz’s CEO, and Gadi Borovich, co-founder of Antigravity (the company behind Puentes).

That experience reminded me why programs like this are so vital: they don’t just showcase talent, they also build bridges between people, ideas, and possibilities. The week was focused on sharing knowledge and fostering meaningful professional connections.

The Rise of LatAm Talent

I've watched Latin America's tech scene evolve over the years, and the transformation has been remarkable. We're no longer talking about 'emerging talent', we're talking about engineers solving complex fintech problems, developers architecting cloud solutions that compete globally, and professionals who've learned to thrive in uncertainty. The region’s talent pool is stronger and more competitive than ever.

Meeting participants from across countries also reinforced that LatAm professionals are not only technically skilled but also bring resilience, creativity, and adaptability: qualities that are invaluable in global teams. Furthermore, the proximity to US and Canadian companies provides a strong competitive advantage over other regions. This, combined with a dedicated work culture, is what has truly placed Latin America in the spotlight for nearshore talent acquisition.

The Gaps That Still Need to Be Bridged

Despite these advances, there are still challenges. Global opportunities often demand not just technical expertise but also familiarity with international workflows, exposure to remote collaboration tools, and confidence navigating hiring processes abroad. Programs like Puentes help close some of these gaps, but the work doesn’t stop there.

At Thaloz, this is exactly where we step in. We specialize in being the essential facilitator between companies and talent. We don't just interpret what companies need based on their growth stage; we accompany both parties throughout their entire working relationship. By gathering early and continuous feedback, we add value and proactively ensure the long-term success and mutual growth of the partnership.

What Companies and Developers Are Looking For

In the U.S., companies (especially startups) are looking for professionals who can move fast, adapt easily, and bring innovative thinking to every project. They need developers who can wear many hats, collaborate remotely, and contribute to building something from the ground up. That’s exactly where LatAm talent shines.

Meanwhile, the Latin American developers I speak with are equally clear about what they want. Sure, competitive compensation matters, but what really lights them up is working on problems that matter, having autonomy to make decisions, and being trusted as genuine partners rather than just remote contractors.

The match seems obvious, right? But making it actually work... that's where the challenge lies.

The startups that joined Puentes had very specific profiles in mind, and understanding that specificity is key. Thaloz prides itself on being a dedicated partner to companies of all kinds and sizes, guiding them through different stages of growth. Because every stage in a company’s journey requires a different kind of talent, and that’s something we deeply understand.

Thaloz's Value: Making the Match Successful

How do we make this possible? Our contribution lies in fostering intimate relationships with both companies and talent. We move beyond technical specifications to understand the core values and unique strengths each party offers. By strategically focusing on this deeper mutual potential and alignment, we ensure that the resulting partnership is not just a placement, but a successful, high-impact match for long-term growth.

Talent needs the right context and the right support to shine. At Thaloz, we'll keep building bridges, because when talent meets opportunity, incredible things happen.
